The Mighty Missionaries Youth Group is dedicated to nurturing children and youth in their faith while helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Through worship, Bible study, mentorship, fellowship, outreach, and engaging activities, we encourage young people to use their gifts, talents, and creativity to serve God and others. Our goal is to provide a loving and supportive environment where children and youth can learn, grow, and actively participate in the life and ministry of the church. As part of this mission, our youth lead Youth Takeover Sunday every fourth Sunday, taking an active role in worship and leadership while sharing their faith with the congregation.

In addition to continuing education for our youth, Zion engages in weekly Sunday School classes for adults, Bible Study each Wednesday, and other learning opportunities as the need arises.

Our Food Pantry serves the Beaverdam Community and surrounding households in Richmond County. Our mission is to provide food and non-food essentials to those in need. With the help of our sponsors and dedicated team of nine volunteers, we work diligently to build our supply and ensure our pantry can meet our goals. The Food Pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month throughout the year.

We gather at the Hamlet Soup Kitchen each fourth Monday to serve a wholesome meal to 45-50 participants monthly. The reward of being with those who are vulnerable as we greet and welcome them is indescribable. To top it all off, we often hear how our meals are the best! Many return for seconds.

Are you feeling called to meal planning, preparation, and service? This ministry is for you. Here at Zion, we have many opportunities to share a meal and are grateful for this ministry team.

The DoRCaS Ministry is a caring and compassionate ministry dedicated to serving our church family and the surrounding community through acts of kindness, support, and service. Inspired by Dorcas (Tabitha) in the Bible, who was known for her generosity and good works, the ministry seeks to be the hands and feet of Christ by providing encouragement, participating in community service projects, and supporting individuals and families during times of need. Through outreach, fellowship, and practical assistance, the DoRCaS Ministry helps share God’s love in meaningful ways while encouraging members to grow in faith, servant leadership, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Our ministry is one who assists the pastor by daily prayer, encouragement, and attention to the pastor’s needs. A special appreciation service is held annually which is coordinated by PAM where members and friends express thanksgiving to God for the gift of the pastor’s leadership. Most of the time, a meal is served in the James C and Ruth P Watkins Gathering Hall following the service.

At Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, we believe creativity is one of God’s gifts and a powerful way to express faith, tell stories, and build community. The Creative Arts Ministry provides a welcoming space where individuals can use their artistic talents and imagination to glorify God through visual arts, writing, music, dance, photography, crafts, and more. Whether you are an experienced artist or simply exploring your creative side, we invite you to share your gifts, connect with others, and celebrate the many ways God’s Spirit works through creativity. Everyone is welcome, and no experience is necessary.

The Usher Board plays an important role in helping everyone feel welcome at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. Whether greeting people at the door, helping guests find a seat, distributing worship materials, or assisting during services, our ushers serve with kindness, respect, and a spirit of hospitality. Their goal is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where all who enter can feel comfortable, connected, and prepared to worship God. Through their faithful service, the Usher Board helps ensure that every worship experience is meaningful and inviting for members and visitors alike.
